Michaela Hennessy [Biography]

Michaela Hennessy

From a very young age, Michaela has been fascinated by Art. One of Michaela’s first memories was sitting on a beach in Cornwall with her Godfather. She asked him how to draw, he answered with the simplest response "Just draw what you see, because no one can see the world the way you do“. She has always held this advice close to her heart when creating work. As she became older she started to analyse this statement. Art was exactly that, it was everything we see, its a response to the world around us, a representation of our feelings, our loves, our loathes, our sanity, our insanity with a constant extension of all that we know, but also a constant collaboration of our minds. Art unpicks and delves into subjects that we may not fully understand, but we can always appreciate. Art is everything, Art is all that we see.

Her passion never waived. Born in London in 1991, she then moved to Cornwall at the age of four. She was surrounded by artists from all walks of life and was actively encouraged to pursue her creative instincts. After completing her A-levels, she went on to Plymouth University to study a BA Hons in Fine Art. After taking some time out from creating work to raise her two daughters, Michaela has once again picked up her paintbrush to what she loves best. Taking influences from impressionism, she has found plenty of inspiration all around her in the stunning landscape of Devon. Working mainly in oils, she loves to create texture and depth in her work, focusing on the natural world and its abstract beauty.
