Gina Fisher [Biography]

Gina Fisher

Gina Fisher, a local artist from Plymouth has developed a unique style that has caught the attention of many clients. A former award winning, Toni and Guy trained hair stylist, Gina initially channeled her creativity in this industry but now mainly focuses on her craft as an artist. Her teacher at school encouraged Gina to become an artist noticing she had a flare and talent- this thought has always remained in her head. So, she began creating pieces for her home which soon became noticed and admired. This encouraged her to keep creating and finally take the big step. Gina enjoys using different techniques and mediums. Her 'signature elements' to look out for include fluid acrylic paint poured backgrounds/blooms, the use of black and grey against pops of brighter colours, delicate embellishment including gold leaf, glitter, 3d pens and the different use of resin for a variety of effects.
'I love using resin to coat the piece all over for a high shine but I also like to just resin certain areas to make them the main focus. I like the shine against the matt and I also enjoy the use of different textures. The fluid paint pours give a feeling of movement which goes well with my frequent use of winged animals like birds and butterflys. For me, they represent the freedom I now feel after being poorly for a few years. Feeling free and empowered is a beautiful feeling which I want to portray and give people the sense of in my work.'
Gina has also done work in the tv industry including interior styling on 'diy sos', voice over acting work on 'long lost family' and work experience in research for a tv production company. She has recently written and illustrated a children's book about a subject close to her heart which has now been published and is available to purchase in Waterstones. She is working on her next one. She enjoys country walks, days on the beach and shopping in her spare time but most of all, making precious memories with her partner and young son.

'I hope you enjoy my work as much as I enjoyed producing it!'
